Welcome

A little bit about us...

Heilfontein is a scenic 50Ha protea and cattle farm, situated in the Hemel & Aarde valley, 5 km from the small picturesque town of Tesselaarsdal in the Overberg, where we harvest Fynbos flowers from plantations and indigenous bush. (If you are a flower customer, please select the Flower Calendar tab above).

We offer 2 types of accommodation:

Heilfontein Lodge - a wheelchair friendly, self-catering homestead (sleeping 8 in 4 rooms with en-suite bathrooms) which offers the flexibility of renting it in combinations of 1,2,3 & 4 rooms – each with separate entrances, fully-equipped kitchens and facilities. Our Lodge also has a wood fired hot tub.

Heilfontein Hermitage - a remote and cozy wheelchair friendly, self-catering cottage (sleeping 2), which is pet-friendly and has a large, fenced dog-proof garden. You can also run your dog off-leash on our 50Ha farm.

All units are renovated to a high standard, offer great linen and include free firewood. Perfect for guests looking for tranquil, comfortable and scenic lodging, away from the city's hustle and bustle. We are located on both sides of the Elandskloof River which has recently been restored and we have a 5km hiking trail, on the farm. It is a beautiful location which we invite you to share with us.

Wining and Dining

Local is Lekker, if you start with De Poskantoor Cafe in Tesselaarsdal. There are 20 wineries, 3 distilleries, 2 breweries and 2 cheeseries all within a 30 min radius of Tesselaarsdal. The nearest Winery to the West is Creation Winery (20km), on the R320 in the Hemel & Aarde Valley. It also has an excellent table and there are several other good wineries in the Valley towards Hermanus (Ataraxia Wines, Spookfontein, Mogg's Country Kitchen and Newton Johnson). To the East, on the R326 to Stanford are Boschrivier Wines (23km) and Raka Winery (25km), which have an extensive range of well-priced wines. There are fine restaurants in Stanford and several on the Hermanus route but it is wise to book before, as some are seasonal and can often be fully booked.
